New Clairemont Canyons Academy Classroom

Facility to Welcome Students for Next School Year

June 10, 2022

SAN DIEGO – As the 2021-2022 school year comes to a close, students at Clairemont Canyons Academy will have a new facility to look forward to when they return this fall.

Throughout the summer, construction crews will put the final touches on the school’s new two-story classroom and student services facility at Mt. Albertine Avenue in Clairemont.

“We’re thrilled that students returning from summer break will have these new classrooms to learn and thrive in,” said San Diego Unified Board of Education Vice President Sabrina Bazzo. “They deserve it, the community deserves it.”

The new classroom building includes 15 state-of-the-art classrooms, a new student services area with a reception lobby, offices, instructional support spaces and a new on-campus parking lot with a student drop-off and pick-up.

“It’ll be a different ball game for our students this fall,” said Clairemont Canyons Academy Principal

Victoria Peterson. “They’ll have new classrooms that will inspire them to learn more and dream big.”

The project also includes a joint-use grass playfield with a walking/running path, secure perimeter fencing, and a drinking fountain that is anticipated to be open for use by spring 2024. As part of the Play All Day partnership with the City of San Diego, the joint-use field will be accessible to the community as a local park after school hours and during school breaks.

Upon completion of the new classroom building, the existing structures, which are directly adjacent to the new one, will undergo major renovations to modernize the existing classroom buildings. Upon completion of the upgrades to the existing structures and installation of the joint use playfield, the school site will be entirely renovated and modernized.

These enhancements are made available by San Diego Unified School District’s Prop S and Z, and Measure YY, which are all local bond measures approved by San Diego voters to repair, renovate and revitalize neighborhood schools.

Remaining site modernizations, including renovations to existing classrooms, common use spaces, and restrooms will be completed in early 2024. You can read more about the project at http://fpcprojects.sandi.net.
